She is the active President, and Master Esthetics Instructor of the Institute of Epidermal Cell Therapy.
Past President, CEO founder of the Virginia Institute of Esthetics opened the Portsmouth campus in 2002-2015. Virginia Institute of Esthetics curriculum was purchased by Institute of Epidermal Cell Therapy. Saphonia was realizing her dream to further the field of Esthetics and up the bar for her fellow Estheticians in the tidewater area. Believing that “Education is key to your journey to healthy skin care” created her love and passion for the field of esthetics. As a leader in the industry, she is responsible for the requirement of licensing in the state of Virginia and Founder of SVSS (The Society of Virginia Skin Care Specialist). The Virginia Institute of Esthetics and L. Saphonia Gee with the help of SVSS played an important role in the drafting and passing of bill HB2510. This bill is the licensing for estheticians in the state of Virginia. Along with the success of VIE, Saphonia earned an appointment, from the Governor of Virginia, to the State Board of Barbers and Cosmetologists in 2005-2011. She made history by being the first Esthetics representatives serve to terms, and the first Esthetician to hold the Co- chair position. Saphonia had the opportunity to operate at every level and position within the esthetics industry. She acquired her knowledge in esthetics from Portugal, Turkey, and the United States. She is CIDESCO Diplomat, Comité International d’Esthétique et de Cosmétologie, one of the world’s most reputable international qualification in the field of Esthetics.
She is a Licensed Master Esthetics and Instructor in Virginia and Washington State. She is also a certified Paramedical and Medical Esthetician, ANHA Holistic Health Care, ANHA Holistic Laboratory, ANHA Holistic Nutrition, Makeup Artist, Product and Ingredient Educator and Consultant for several companies, Business Spa Consultant, Certified Nursing Assistant, and an International CIDESCO Diplomat. Saphonia was also the liaison for skincare for the NIC. She was also affiliated with development of the Basic Esthetics Written/Practical Exam and Master Esthetics Practical Exam that is used on a national level to assess candidate’s eligibility for the state licensure. As a certified nursing assistant and paramedical esthetician, she worked with three prominent plastic surgeons focusing on the care of pre- and post-operative patients, stressing that proper skin care is the key to healthy skin. She is a past co-founders a, state of the art, skin therapy center- IYOS Your Own Skin). This center serve as an outpatient facility for several prominent plastic surgeon pre and post-operative care, nutritionists, licensed estheticians; licensed massage therapists, licensed wax technicians, and licensed makeup artists.
